Create and Connect: Drawing and Painting (online)

Create and Connect art classes are designed to foster meaningful connections through shared creative interests, with instruction by award-winning artist Jennifer Rowe, PSWC-DP. Originally developed for DYS students, these classes draw from Jennifer’s firsthand experience supporting her own DYS son’s need for community centered around his passions. The intimate class size ensures personalized instructor feedback on each student’s artwork. The supportive environment naturally encourages authentic conversations and connections, providing an ideal space for artistic growth, creative exploration, and genuine friendships to flourish.

Students will explore fine art techniques like shading, proportion, and texture through drawing and painting fantastical animals, mountain skylines, and glowing effects during the “Shine and Glimmer” section of this class. They will use both instructor provided and self-chosen reference photos to draw from, working mostly at their own pace. Media will include graphite, colored pencil, watercolor, acrylic, and pastels.
