All new lessons! Fine art techniques including shading, proportions, and texture will be taught through drawing and painting animals, still life of everyday objects, and flowers. Throughout the class, the artists will at times work from reference photos I select and at other times work from reference photos they choose. Students will mostly work at their own pace, and some more involved pieces may take several class periods to complete. A variety of media including graphite, watercolor, acrylic, and pastels will be taught and explored in this class.

Capture It! Journals, Calendars and Vision Boards | Grade 7-12

In this exciting class students will learn how to journal for self-reflection and goal-setting, master calendar management techniques to stay organized, visualize their dreams and capture what is meaningful through vision boards and other creative projects…all with an artistic flair! Students will make their own journal and create their own papers with marbling techniques and stamping, learn beautiful lettering, expressively paint with mixed media as they capture memories, goals, and dreams and turn aspirations into reality.

Advanced Art | Grade 7-12 WAITLIST

Develop fine art techniques of drawing and shading, and learn painting techniques for both realism and expressive artworks. Students will work at their own pace allowing for multiple days on a single art project as needed. The emphasis for this semester will be portraits and still life of everyday objects. Portrait drawing will be made easy through starting with the foundational basics for proper proportions then building on that to achieve a likeness of the person you are drawing. The still life projects are designed to both bring out students’ creativity and personal expression and provide opportunity to develop observation skills and realism drawing and painting. Ideally students will spend a few hours a week outside of class continuing to work on the art projects. A variety of media will be used including graphite, charcoal, watercolor, acrylic.

Discover the joy of drawing and painting with a variety of art materials in this class specifically designed for k-1. The emphasis will be on exploration and process with very gentle introductions to drawing and painting techniques for this age range. Dive into creating artworks of aquatic animals, plants, and an imaginary scene with yourself as the snorkeler! Continuing your adventure, head into the savanna and draw and paint African wildlife – lions, tigers, giraffes, leopards – and scenery. A wide variety of media – graphite, watercolor, pastels, etc. – will be explored as fine art techniques for drawing and painting are taught through these fun themes. A few holiday themed art lessons will also also be part of this semester long course. A new art project will be created every week or two.
